NGS Conference Recording Packages

Are you attending the NGS Family History Conference next week? I am excited to be there in person, but I always miss some excellent sessions because I can only be in one place at a time.

Are you unable to attend the NGS conference in Florida? Would you like to hear some of the conference sessions from home? Well, here are your options.

Option 1 --
There is still time to sign up to watch the live-streaming of ten of the sessions on Thursday and Friday, May 5th and 6th. If watching live does not fit into your schedule, you will have three months to watch the sessions at your convenience. Here is the link to register.

Option 2 -- 

You can purchase a pass which will include audio recordings of ALL 140 sessions of the conference! See the three package options in below, and click here to order online from PlayBack. This is a great deal, and if you act fast you can save $100 on the package by ordering before May 7th. After that date the prices go up.  

Option 3 --

If you just have a few sessions you are interested in, you can order them individually for $10 each. Click here to see a listing of all of the sessions by topic or presenter. I have ordered individual recordings of my favorite sessions for each of the last eight years. It is a great way to hear some of the best presenters in genealogy while you drive to work or take your daily walk.

FGS Conference -- Angela's PIcks for 2013

I wish I were in Fort Wayne, Indiana attending the Federation of Genealogical Societies (FGS) conference this week. The program looks terrific and I would love to see all my genealogy colleagues. But for those of you who, like me, are unable to attend, you can still benefit from the genealogical education by selecting presentations to purchase and listen to at home.


Many of the conference sessions will be recorded by Fleetwood Onsite Conference Recording, Inc. What is new this year is that there will be digital downloads of sessions instead of CDs to purchase at <www.fleetwoodonsite.com> after the conference. I am hoping the following sessions are among those recorded as they are the ones I would most like to hear this year. Everyone will have different sessions that they feel they need, as we are all at varying places in our genealogical education. We may need lectures on records, methodology, or specific locations or ethnicities.

BCG Blog Features Skillbuilding Lectures from NGS Conference

It is not Friday, but I have a blog I would love to feature and recommend that others follow. This is the BCG SpringBoard: News and Notes blog. It is sponsored by the Board for Certification of Genealogists and I have found the content useful. Barbara Mathews, CG is the primary blogger, but she has had a series of board-certified genealogists featured as guest bloggers over the past week. They have written summaries of the lectures in the BCG Skillbuilding track at the National Genealogical Society Conference that was held in Las Vegas from May 8 - 11, 2013

I was able to attend a few of the lectures in this track, but missed many of them as I was only at the conference for 2 1/2 days, and spent some of my time networking and presenting my own lecture. I enjoyed the summaries of each presentation on this blog.

JAMB, Inc. recorded many of the lectures and will have them available for purchase on CD soon. See the NGS Conference page on their website for more information. I purchased several of the lectures on CD before I left the conference, and have done the same in past years even when I have been unable to attend the conference. This is an excellent way to further your genealogy education and learn from some of the best instructors in genealogy.

FGS Lectures to Order on CD

This week I wish I was at the national Federation of Genealogical Societies conference in Springfield, Illinois. Many of my genealogy friends are there along with some of the best genealogical speakers in the country. I made my "wish list" of lectures to order on CD (which I do for every national conference). For this conference there is a new company recording the lectures,  Fleetwood Onsite Conference Recording, Inc. According to Dick Eastman's blog the recordings will be available for download as well as on CD and can be ordered at http://www.fltwood.com/onsite/ once the Fleetwood employees return home from the conference.

For several years I have been ordering genealogy lectures on CD. I use this method to learn about topics presented at conferences I have been unable to attend, or for lectures I really enjoyed and want to hear again.
